Kuzey Doğa Society was founded in January 2008 in Kars, as the product of the Kars-Iğdır Biodiversity Project which started in 2003 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağan H. Şekercioğlu. The vision of the foundation is the model of a world where the collapse of ecosystems are prevented, living species stop going extinct, and humans contribute to the protection of the environment as much as wildlife does. With this approach, KuzeyDoğa strives to increase the amount of community based nature conservation projects in the developing world and aims to amplify awareness and consciousness of local communities and the private sector for protecting biodiversity.
