Supporting a centre for animal species breeding and reintroduction

Timeframe: 2014-2016
Country/Region: Sweden, Europe
Partner: Nordens Ark

Over the years, Nordens Ark, a twenty-five year old conservation institution in West Sweden, has played a leading role in both breeding and reintroduction of certain species especially the local Peregrine Falcon and the White-backed Woodpecker. In order to recognise this highly technical and scientifically challenging specialty and to regroup all these activities under the same roof, the institution has developed a “Centre for breeding and reintroduction of species”: a project  already supported by Fondation Segré from 2012 to 2013.

In 2014, the Foundation decided to extend its collaboration with Nordens Ark for another three years by choosing three species to support, in particular: the Lesser-white fronted Goose, the Lemur leaf frog and the White-backed Woodpecker.
