25th Anniversary at Nordens Ark

On 13-15 June, Nordens Ark – the species breeding & reintroduction centre in Sweden – celebrated its 25th Anniversary in the presence of HRH, Crown Princess Victoria, Patron of Nordens Ark. To celebrate the very successful development of the centre, a new Persian Leopard enclosure was inaugurated.
Nordens Ark has played a very significant role in breeding and reintroducing several endangered species, including the Peregrine Falcon, White-backed Woodpecker, Lesser White-fronted Goose and several endangered, native amphibians. Soon the new breeding facilities for the globally endangered Lemur Leaf Frog in Costa Rica will be ready with financial support of Fondation Segré. This project and a continuation of the work on the Lesser White-fronted Goose and the White-backed Woodpecker, have received in 2014 a three-year grant from the Foundation.
